All new probationary police officers now complete a two year Modern Apprenticeship in Policing. This has been designed to ensure training remains relevant in a changing society. Initial training takes place over 12 weeks at Police Scotland Training and Recruitment Centres, the Scottish Police College at Tulliallan.
Do you need qualifications to be a police officer?
Yes, as above, the Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship (PCDA) does not require you to have a degree. However, you will be working towards the completion of a professional degree-level apprenticeship as part of this entry route which will need to be successfully completed prior to being confirmed in post.
