How often should the Phonak filters be changed?
As you may remember from the introductory guidelines for the hearing aids from your hearing-care professional, the cerumen protection filter in the external receiver should be replaced approximately every four to eight weeks; at the latest, however, once it becomes visible that the cerumen protection is dirty, blocked.
How often should I change the wax guard on my Phonak hearing aid?
They have to replace their wax guards as quickly as every couple of weeks. Since there’s no set schedule for changing your wax filter, we advise inspecting the wax guard when you’re cleaning your hearing aids. (We also recommend cleaning your hearing aids every night.)
Can I clean my hearing aid with alcohol?
Avoid wipes with chemicals or alcohol when cleaning hearing aids as they could damage the devices.

Your hearing aids should be cleaned and checked by your audiologist at least every 4-6 months. This is in addition to you wiping the hearing aids off every night before you put them in the case and you checking/at-home cleaning your hearing aids every 1-2 weeks.

On average, hearing aid tubing should be replaced every four to six months. Domes should be replaced every 2-3 months, and wax filters should be changed every month. Many new hearing aid users do understand that proper care and maintenance of their hearing aids is an important part of caring for their new investment.
Can hearing aid wax guards be cleaned?
A wax guard can only be cleaned so much. You may need to get a new wax guard when cleaning no longer works (in order to make this smoother, you can purchase a toolkit made specifically for this).
Why is my hearing aid whistling?
The disturbing whistling or squeaking noise coming from your hearing aid is caused by feedback. Feedback occurs when the sound coming out of your hearing aid loops back around and goes into the hearing aid’s microphone.
