Chaos Witch Quelaag can slash either side of her with a huge flaming sword, although you can dodge these attacks if you’re near to the body of the boss, or blocking. Following these attacks will sometimes be a stabbing attack from Quelaag’s sword, which comes from over her head and has extended range.
How did Quelaag become a spider?
Quelaag is a daughter of the Witch of Izalith and, along with most of her family, failed to escape from the chaotic flame and was corrupted by it. Due to exposure to the flame, Quelaag and her sister mutated into spider-like creatures with their upper body being fused to the monsters’ backs.

What was Blighttown?
A town that developed on the outskirts of the Demon Ruins/Lost Izalith whose inhabitants became infected by the Blight Pus. It is likely that many of the people here became servants of Quelaag and her fair sister. Blighttown was likely always a less than desirable place to live or work.
