How many MCN nappies do I need?
Newborns to around 3 months can use between 10 to 12 nappies a day. If you wanted to wash everyday, around 24 – 30 nappies would be needed to allow for drying time of the nappies. Every second day for washing would vary between 30 to 36 nappies.
How often do you need to change MCN?
Babies under one month – change every two hours during the day, and before/after every night feed (whichever you prefer) Babies under six months – change every 2 1/2 hours during the day, and at night feed as needed (i.e. if they are still pooing at night)
Do you soak MCN?
Do not soak as doing so will only spread bacteria. For stubborn stains or potent wees, it is a good idea to rinse and ring out the nappy after use, before storing in the bucket ready for washing.
Are cloth nappies better than disposable?
You could consider using cloth nappies at home and disposables when you’re out. Some types of nappies leak less or need fewer changes. For example, you’ll need to change cloth nappies more often than highly absorbent disposable nappies. You could consider using cloth nappies during the day and disposables overnight.
How tight should Reusable nappy be?
You want the nappy snug against the skin, but not too tight. You should be able to slide your fingers in. Think how it would feel if you were wearing it and do it accordingly. Run your fingers round again to check the elastics are still on the knickerline and that they are now snug and comfortable.
How do I know if cloth nappy is too tight?
Check it’s not too tight by running your finger between the nappy and their leg. You should be able to easily do this, If not it’s too tight. The waist doesn’t need to be tight, there needs to be some room for their belly when they sit up. Make sure boys are pointing down to stop upward leaks.
