What height should a Strat pickup be?
Start by setting all of your guitar pickups to 3/32” (0.093”, 2.38mm) on the bass side and 2/32” (1/16”, 0.0625”, 1.98mm) on the treble side. Remember, this is the space between the top of the pole piece and the bottom of the string, held down at the last fret.
Where should I set my pickup height?
The correct pickup height orientation is lower on the bass side and closer on the treble side. Your Bass strings have more mass and will disturb the magnetic field more than treble strings.
How high should my single coil pickups be?
For single coil pickups, your treble side should be slightly higher than your bass side, this provides a nice even balance of signal.
What does raising and lowering pickups do?
I find that raising and lowering a pickup does several things. When I move my pickup closer to the strings I get more output and more attack. When lowering a pickup you get less output and a smoother sound. As the pickup is moved further away from the bridge the louder and fuller it sounds.
What is the proper string height for an electric guitar?
For electric guitars, in our opinion, a good default string height at the 12th fret is typically about 6/64th of an inch (2.38mm) on the bass side and 4/64th of an inch (1.59mm) on the treble side.
Will raising pickups make guitar louder?
As the pickup is moved further away from the bridge the louder and fuller it sounds. The pickup has more string vibration moving over the coils.
How high should electric guitar pickups be?
We recommend between somewhere close to 5/64″ on the bridge pickup, and about 4/64″ on the neck. Keep in mind, these are measurements on the Low-E side. On the High-E, we might suggest you move it just a tad closer (say 1/64″ on each pickup). Adjusting height is easy.
Are pickups supposed to be slanted?
The Humbucker should not be parallel to the strings. The pickup should be slanted slightly so the screw pole pieces are slightly closer to the strings.
