Locations. The charity’s head office is in Leeds, England. There are also centres in the English municipalities of Newcastle, Birmingham, Chester, and Halifax, Scotland’s largest city of Glasgow, and the Welsh capital of Cardiff.
What documents do step change need?
The paperwork you will need to send in includes:
- a signed DMP agreement, to authorise the DMP company to make payments on your behalf.
- a signed Direct Debit agreement, so you can make payments.
- proof of income, to check you can afford payments.
- account numbers for all of your debts, to work out who you owe money to.
Can you do StepChange online?
Benefits of using OnlineDMP You can do this all online, but if you need some help, give us a call. Set up, remove and update your Direct Debit payments. Add or remove details of the companies you owe money to. You can download and print your monthly statements .
Can you email step change?
To contact us about activating your DMP, adjusting your monthly payment, or if you have a lump sum of money to pay off your debts, please email us at [email protected]. To help us process your request promptly, please only send one email. We may take up to 48 hours to reply to you.
How do step change make money?
We receive money from StepChange Voluntary Arrangements which arranges and supervises individual voluntary arrangements. The firm earns fees that are agreed with the creditors at the outset of the arrangement and which are deducted from the subsequent distributions made to those creditors.

Can you arrange a DMP yourself?
You can arrange a plan with your creditors yourself or through a licensed debt management company for a fee. If you arrange this with a company: you make regular payments to the company. the company shares the money out between your creditors.
Do StepChange need bank statements?
This can be your last 2 months payslips, a benefits letter or a bank statement. If you are sending bank statements, please circle the relevant information. Please make sure you include any gas, electricity, water, rent arrears, council tax arrears and benefit overpayments.
Is Step change a good idea?

Can I add a debt to StepChange?
If you’ve forgotten to add a debt to your DMP you’ll need to let your DMP provider know as soon as possible. If it’s been longer than six years since you made a payment to this debt, it could be classed as ‘statute barred’. This means your creditor can’t force you to pay it.
Is Step Change an IVA?
